My Holiday Travel Must-Haves with State Farm

This post is sponsored by State Farm

There are a few DANGEROUS things about living in the Northeast: potential icy roads, flat tires, and car stalls while traveling in the winter months. The last thing I want to have to worry about while venturing to visit family is the increased chance of being stranded in the cold. GAH! That’s why I always pack a heavy jacket and accessories to stay warm in case of emergency. Thankfully I’ve relieved my wintery travel worries now knowing about a protection program, the Pennsylvania DOT State Farm Safety Patrol.

I’ve teamed up with State Farm to share some safety tips to make sure the holiday travel season stays joyful! A quick vehicle checkup is the best precaution before starting your travels. Remember to:

  1. Check the air pressure in all tires (especially the spare!)
  2. Make sure the wiper blades work
  3. Check the battery life and that cables are properly connected
  4. Inspect brake pads
  5. Change the oil and filter
  6. Test the headlights, brake lights, turn signals, emergency flashers, and interior lights

To go along with those State Farm’ quick vehicle safety tips, I’m listing my travel must-haves for going home during the holidays.

  1. Salted peanuts or some non-perishable snacks
  2. Fingerless driving gloves
  3. A kickass playlist (often curated by DJ friends or musicians)
  4. Purified water
  5. Coffee or a latte
  6. A blanket in case I get stranded and need to wait for the Assist Patrol
  7. One or more pairs of sunglasses

Where are you going this holiday season? The Assist Patrol program runs in 15 states with 20 sponsored patrols. Be sure to see if it operates near you and stay safe! You can learn more about the program here.

3 Accessories for the Business Traveler

Convertible travel pillow, Myllow. Window seat? Aisle seat? The Myllow travel pillow easily changes from a neck pillow to a rectangular pillow in a matter of seconds. Unzip the top, shake the beads and reform into the second pillow.

Shoemerang is a foam shoe horn that you can cut to fit. It easily bends and inserts into shoes to keep them in shape while traveling or even while stored in a closet.

QOR these performance tees are designed to wick, breathe, and dry. Heading from a light workout to a night on the town. Test wearing the QOR and adding a blazer over top. It’s transitional.

SXSW | TEVA Artist Series

In March I went to Austin, Texas to see some of the cool activations happening at SXSW. Knowing I would be walking around a lot, I took a pair of Teva’s new Artist Series sandals with me! It was very fitting for the trip as Leah Duncan, designer of this particular pair, is also based in Austin! Aside from being very comfortable, I love that Teva is giving 10% of each Artist Series sale to kids’ art education programs supported by P.S. ARTS. As a child, art class was one of my favorite times of the day and I often still take time to stop, pull out a notebook and doodle/color for stress relief. Instilling the value of creative thinking in today’s youth is important so kudos to Teva for supporting P.S. ARTS mission while also creating some uber comfy and stylish footwear. At least 5 people stopped me around Austin and said, “I love your Teva sandals!

Beautiful Tennis in Miami with Lacoste

Lacoste invited me to a weekend getaway to experience #BeautifulTennis during the Miami Open. The brand is the official apparel outfitter for the tennis competition. Upon arriving at The Gale in South Beach on Friday, I switched from my travel suit to sun ready attire. Above is a shot from my room’s balcony.

Two limited edition shoes launched over the weekend – a collaboration between Lacoste and Clyde Edwards from Addict Miami. The white sneaker is an updated take on the 30 year old Dash model. A more limited run of 50 tennis ball colored sneakers also released during the weekend. The sneakers are currently available at Addict Miami.

On Saturday we stopped by Turnberry Isle for a tennis clinic. It’s been awhile since I’ve played tennis, but thankfully it was like riding a bike. A few mishits here and it wasn’t long before the instructor started complimenting my form. #SCORE! Proud me asked to pose by the Lacoste sign post training.

Later that evening we went to Soho Beach House for a private dinner. Beforehand Alexander and I caught up and took in this breathtaking view!

Alexander, Michelle, Lisa, me, and Sydne at the Lacoste L!VE x Addict party.

Sunday we went to the Lacoste’s box seating at the Miami Open. I especially loved stopping into the Moet & Chandon tent and sipping on the Ice Imperial Champagne!

Toasting to a great trip with Sydne Summer of Sydne Style

The weekend was truly magical. I enjoyed meeting new people and seeing my friends. Ever since the trip I’ve been wearing Lacoste sneakers on the regular because they’re so comfortable. Shout out to Ally, Melissa, Ali, Layne, and Colby for showing us a great time in Miami and decking us out in head-to-toe Lacoste.

Special thanks to Lisa Dengler for capturing the last two outfit shots!

Not Traveling There Blind!

It’s summer in the Northern hemisphere (obviously), which means it’s the best time to TAKE A ROAD TRIP! I love exploring local spots when visiting an unfamiliar city, however doing so is difficult unless I have a friend to show me around.

To give travelers an insider look at USA cities, Ford enlisted the dynamic travel companions Krissy and Jessica of the YouTube series Taste Buds Travel. The duo has traveled state to state stopping in Chicago, New Orleans, Nashville and other cities and now made their final stop in Brooklyn!
I love the cool coffee shop x florist, Homecoming, featured in the video. It’s definitely on my Brooklyn must-visit list now. See Taste Buds Travel’s Brooklyn video below!

So what’s my Brooklyn recommendation? The Blind Barber.
Offering an array of services (haircuts, shaves, beard trims) and a menu full of delicious bites, the Brooklyn location is one of three.
